Job Overview

The Bistro-Café Counter Coordinator (Barista Bar) is responsible for the entire operation of the semi-public bistro and the barista bar at the SHL Medical headquarters in Zug.
The successful candidate ensures a high-quality, reliable, and welcoming gastronomic experience for employees and guests, focusing on excellent coffee, a structured lunch offering, and professional hospitality in accordance with established operating, hygiene, and quality standards. You contribute to a positive working atmosphere and represent SHL Medical through a modern, service-oriented, and inclusive approach to gastronomy. For the lunch offering, we work together with a bakery.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the semi-public bistro, including the barista bar
• Ensuring consistently high quality standards for coffee, drinks, and snacks
• Preparation of espresso drinks with professional portafilter machines, including daily maintenance and cleaning
• Preparation, regeneration, and serving of snacks and small warm meals according to established processes (iHexagon)
• You provide internal and external guests with professional, friendly service, including the processing of cashless payments
• You organize and support selected gastronomic services as well as business lunches at the management level
• You coordinate the part-time employees during peak lunch hours
• You supervise the daily organization, inventory management, refilling of the Smart Fridge, as well as hygiene and cleanliness
• You ensure compliance with all hygiene, quality, and safety standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Fluent German (C1)
• Experience in operating a bistro, a barista bar, or a comparable gastronomic business
• Confident handling of professional portafilter coffee machines
• Ability and willingness to operate a combi-steamer (iHexagon) according to standardized instructions
• High service orientation, quality awareness, and reliability
• Confident handling of digital systems (POS system, ordering and inventory management tools)

Preferred Qualifications

• English B2
• A background or training in the fields of gastronomy, hotel management, or a service-related area is an advantage. Corresponding practical experience can be considered equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP principles
• Experience in the hospitality industry in companies, semi-state institutions, or at the workplace
